Job Description

GDIT has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Administrator to fill a Core Services management position on the CITS contract for USCENTCOM.  The position is based in Tampa, Florida.

The Core Services Task Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing the execution of core service functions covering Server, Endpoint Security (ESS), E-discovery, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Monitoring Tools, Storage, and VMware teams.  This role ensures that deliverables are met on time, within scope, and to the expected quality standards expected by CITS and USCENTCOM.  The Task Lead coordinates resources, collaborates with cross-functional teams, manages client relationships, and provides guidance to team members to meet the strategic objectives of USCENTCOM.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of core services tasks, ensuring that goals, timelines, and project objectives are met.  Monitor progress, resolve issues, and adjust strategies as needed.

  • Lead a team of professionals working on the core services tasks. Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and ensure the team works effectively toward task objectives.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding core services-related tasks.  Ensure effective communication, address concerns, and manage expectations.  

  • Manage the distribution of resources (personnel, equipment, budget, etc.) across core services tasks.  Ensure resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.

  • Ensure that all services delivered meet the highest quality standards.  Conduct regular checks, reviews, and audits to ensure compliance with client specifications and industry regulations.

  • Identify potential risks and issues affecting core services tasks and develop mitigation strategies.  Act proactively to address challenges and minimize impact on project delivery.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for the tasks. Prepare regular reports for senior management and clients outlining the status, progress, and performance of core services tasks.

  • Assess current processes and procedures for core services. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement new processes to increase efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide training to junior Systems Administrators.

  • Lead Tiger Teams when needed.

  • Support cross-functional IT teams and projects.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) or Technical Training, Certifications, and 5+ years of experience.

  • Required: Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (i.e., Security + CE certification).

Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.

  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix and Windows-based systems administration.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.

  • Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).

Desired Certifications:

  • Microsoft Windows Hybrid Administrator

  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission.

  • Experience working in cross-functional IT teams and projects.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation tasks.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, etc.).

  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required

Travel Requirements:

  • Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% Travel during the Year to OCONUS Locations

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
