Artificial Intelligence + Machine Learning Engineer - Secret Clearance or Able to Obtain.

Our work depends on an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer joining our team to develop and guide AI and ML solution design and implementation in support of our Government customers.

HOW OUR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE + MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Idealize, design, and develop advanced prototypes for AI and data solutions.

  • Translate business use cases into AI implementations.

  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.

  • Design, train, tune, and evaluate large language models.

  • Build and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including vector store integration, embedding tuning, and query expansion techniques.

  • Deploy solutions in the cloud using either Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, both on-prem and hybrid.

  • Design and develop scalable intelligent document processing pipelines.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate LLM and RAG components into end-to-end solutions.

  • Conduct prompt engineering, chain-of-thought reasoning design, and grounding strategies to improve model performance and factual accuracy.

  • Analyze model outputs, perform error analysis, and iteratively improve model accuracy and relevance.

  • Maintain and document training runs, model configurations, and evaluation metrics.

  • Contribute to data pipeline development, including preprocessing, annotation, and curation of training datasets.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques.

  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

  • May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)

  • Design, research, and develop the most advanced processes, which may result in new product/business opportunities for the company.

  • Lead efforts to capture new business through technical work and capability briefings.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction in implementing data management practices.

  • Maintain current and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Secret Clearance is preferred. (Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. US Citizenship is required).

  • Required Experience: 10+ years of related experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience in developing LLM and RAG-based application prototypes and transitioning solutions to operational scale

  • 2+ years of experience with Generative AI, Machine Learning, NLP, Intelligent Search

  • Required Technical Skills:

  • Ability to fine-tune models, perform model optimization, and/or Graph Analytics

  • Ability to perform prompt engineering and evaluation methodologies for generative models

  • Experience with Conversational AI, Agentic AI, Chat Bots, Multimodal AI, and/or Predictive Analytics

  • Education: Master's Degree in Data Science or closely related discipline

  • Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to develop compelling business proposals and confidently present them to clients and stakeholders

  • Location: Remote but local to the Washington DC area

  • US Citizenship Required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $165,750 - $224,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
