Job Description

Engineering Drafter – SolidWorks Focus (Mechanical & Electrical)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Drafter to join our growing engineering team. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong foundation in SolidWorks and AutoCAD and keen interest in advancing their technical skills in both mechanical and electrical drafting of military and commercial products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for electromechanical components, assemblies, and systems
  • Develop and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists under the guidance of engineers
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), drawing trees, and block diagrams
  • Perform quality checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy
  • Keep documented records of design changes, revisions, and approvals
  • Collaborate effectively with managers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to understand project requirements and facilitate accurate design realization and implementation
  • Support project development by troubleshooting drafting-related challenges
  • Ensure all drawings and models adhere to established industry standards, military specifications, and company procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate's degree and 5 years' experience or Bachelors degree and 3 years' experience in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency producing 2D drawings in Solidworks and AutoCAD
    • Working knowledge creating 3D CAD models in Solidworks
    • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles
    • Strong understanding of interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs
    • Familiarity with military drafting specifications
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for documenting and presenting designs, drawings, and data
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience with documenting manufacturing processes or written instructions is a plus

Note: This job posting focuses heavily on SolidWorks experience, but candidates with experience in other CAD software and relevant mechanical and/or electrical knowledge will also be considered.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $30.27 - $35.65. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
