Job Description

GDIT is the leading systems integrator in the Zero Trust Defense sector market—developing and delivering innovative solutions to government customers. Our Zero Trust business continues experiencing rapid growth, and this is an opportunity to join our team and be a part of creating Cybersecurity solutions that make a real impact. 

As a System Architect on the Enterprise Zero Trust Program for a DoD client, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Identifying and understanding the needs and objectives of the organization or specific project.  

  • Creating blueprints for the IT systems, including hardware, software, networking, and data storage.  

  • Choosing appropriate technologies and components to meet the defined requirements.  

  • Ensuring that different components of the system work together seamlessly.  

  • Monitoring and optimizing system performance to ensure efficiency and stability.  

  • Designing systems that can handle increasing demands and future growth.  

  • Implementing security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access and threats.  

  • Staying up to date with industry standards and best practices to ensure that systems are designed and implemented correctly.  

  • Working closely with engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the system.  

  • Diagnosing and fixing problems with existing systems, as well as identifying and implementing solutions for future challenges.  

  • Creating clear and concise documentation for system architecture designs and implementation.  

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years’ experience in systems engineering with strong emphasis on senior-level roles. 

  • Leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills. 

  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python) 

  • Understanding various system architectures (monolithic, microservices, etc.) 

  • Experience with design patterns, and familiarity with software engineering methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)  

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills are needed to work with various stakeholders.  

  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and make critical decisions.  

Required Skills/Knowledge: 

  • Current Secret clearance 

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. 

  • Familiarity with basic Zero Trust Network Architecture and components involved. 

  • Proficiency in frameworks and tools, as well as a strong understanding of system architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices. 

  • Experience in system design, integration, and administration. 

  • Strong understanding of DoD IT standards, industry trends, and best practices for ensuring system reliability and security. 

Desired Skills/Knowledge: 

  • Certification such as Certified Technical Architect (CTA), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF 9), and Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr)  

  • Certifications in cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) 

  • Experience working in DoD DDIL environments. 

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification  

  • Bachelor’s degree in field like Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
