Across the federal government, artificial intelligence is transforming mission delivery in exciting and impactful ways. This is incredibly important in an environment in which health care costs are rising, providers are over-burdened, and there is real opportunity to accelerate research and development efforts to bring life-changing treatments to patients faster and with more efficacy.

Colleen Kummet, an epidemiologist and GDIT’s Director of Health Analytics, sat down with three GDIT leaders to talk about how their teams are applying the promise and potential of AI to enhance efficiency and outcomes in the health space.

In this engaging discussion, Program Director Karen Painter shared how her team is working hand-in-hand with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to use AI and machine learning to combat fraud, waste, and abuse. Senior Director Paula Harper talked about the ways she and her team are using AI to support the complex, data-rich financial management system that ensures Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries and providers receive payments every month. Shelley Butler shared how her team developed a custom translation tool that allows health benefits letters from the Department of Veterans Affairs to be easily and compliantly translated for veterans and their families residing in Puerto Rico.

Across each of these examples – and across our entire portfolio – GDIT is bringing the art of the possible to its practical reality and having a transformative impact on both customer missions and on the individuals they serve.
