GDIT Opens New Cyber Facility at Port San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today the opening of its new cyber facility at Port San Antonio. During an Oct. 10 ribbon-cutting ceremony, GDIT was joined by key customers, technology partners and community leaders to celebrate the opening as an important milestone for the company and the overall community.

The new facility will initially support up to 50 new high-tech jobs with additional positions expected as the company’s operations expand in the region. GDIT will use the space to develop advanced cyber and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions to support the Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber) headquartered on the Port campus and at neighboring Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

“San Antonio is a strategic cyber hub for the Air Force and is the nation’s second largest cybersecurity community,” said Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s senior vice president for defense. “Given its incredible potential, we see a great opportunity to leverage our cybersecurity expertise and grow our footprint. Our investments will also further expand the city’s technology workforce and drive innovation in the region.”

As the largest technology campus in the Alamo City, Port San Antonio is at the center of the community’s significant growth in information security and related sectors. It is home to more than 80 public and private sector enterprises, including a rapidly growing ecosystem of locally based startups. GDIT will partner with these companies and academic institutions such as the University of Texas at San Antonio, which houses some of the top cybersecurity programs in the nation, to cultivate a talent pipeline of IT innovators and technologists through internship opportunities and mentorship programs.

“We are proud to add a global name like GDIT to our thriving campus,” said Port San Antonio President and CEO Jim Perschbach. “The company’s commitment to innovation, partnerships and education capture the very essence of our work at the Port: to create a vibrant community where people can channel their talents, make strategic connections and collaborate together to develop the latest technologies that make our world a safer, more productive and more resilient place.”
