Job Description
GDIT is hiring a Medical Research Assistant to join our team in support of our client Navy Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) in California. From the original tent dispensary established in 1914 to the modern facility of today, Naval Medical Center San Diego's (NMCSD) mission has remained constant: provide the finest medical care in a family-centered environment to military service members, their families and those who served in the past RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with subject recruitment, consenting and specimen collection.
  • Adhere to aseptic technique and safe handling regulations for biological specimens.
  • Provide operational support, to include analytical evaluations and prospective clinical evaluations, for diagnostic evaluations, clinical studies, and/or clinical trials sponsored by Federal Agencies or private companies, subject to final GS or military approval.
  • Support surveillance of operational infectious diseases that affect DoD personnel in coordination with federal agencies, local governments, research organizations, and universities at locations around the world.
  • Support logistic and administrative tasks as needed to ensure that the department can successfully meet its mission, subject to final GS or military approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree
  • 1-2 years experience with patient communication
  • Experience collecting, testing, analyzing and archiving specimens
  • Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) standards and regulations
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a favorable Secret security clearance
Preferred:
  • Understanding of GLP Regulations – 21 CFR Part 58 (FDA) preferred
  • Experience with surveillance of operational infectious diseases is strongly preferred
  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $15.20 - $22.80. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
