Cloud
In its continuing efforts to modernize, the Department of Defense is tasking its mission partners with migrating their applications to the cloud. To help them make the shift is milCloud® 2.0. The powerful hybrid cloud solution offers ease of use, performance, inherited security and affordability, designed specifically for the warfighter.
When a large DoD mission partner needed to securely migrate their unique situation to the cloud, they came to GDIT. With over 100,000 end-users at various impact levels both on and off the Department of Defense Information Network, they needed to ensure application owners made the shift to the cloud consistently.
Together, we worked to determine their exact milCloud® 2.0 migration requirements. From the number of applications being moved, to data protection and storage requirements. We established a timeline and budget that worked for them and helped with any staffing and engineering needs during the entire process.
From this, we were able to migrate the client from their existing VMware environment to a KVM-based hypervisor cloud. When they needed to integrate existing infrastructure into the cloud using Community of Interest extensions, we worked with them to develop four separate options without compromising on connectivity or impact level. What’s more, this mission partner was able to extend their current network into milCloud® 2.0 so their application owners never lost the services or security they needed.
Working with our migration teams, the client was able to securely shift their workload to the cloud in the most agile, reliable and secure way, radically improving their mission.
